Tirzepatide is a modified peptide that activates two gut-hormone receptors (GIP and GLP-1). As an approved medicine it is sold under the brand names Mounjaro and Zepbound. Important: peptide material sold to laboratories as a research chemical is not the FDA-approved drug and is not intended for human use.
Regulatory status: Tirzepatide is FDA-approved as Mounjaro (type 2 diabetes, NDA 215866, approved May 2022) and Zepbound (weight management, NDA 217806, approved Nov 2023); research-chemical versions sold to labs are not the approved drug product.
