What the research actually says

Evidence so far: Mostly preclinical and cosmetic-ingredient research; one is an unapproved drug carrying regulatory safety warnings. There is little rigorous human clinical-trial evidence here.

GHK-Cu (a copper-binding tripeptide) is studied in skin, collagen and wound-healing cell research and is widely used as a topical ingredient in cosmetics, where it is generally accepted for that purpose. But the deeper claims come mostly from laboratory and cell-culture work, and there is a real gap in published human safety studies for injected GHK-Cu. SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) is likewise a cosmetic peptide ingredient marketed for topical skin use, not a tested drug.

Melanotan 2 is the outlier and the one to be candid about. It is an unlicensed synthetic melanocortin peptide studied for its ability to darken skin pigmentation without sun exposure. It is not approved by the FDA, EMA, or other major regulators, and health agencies in the US, UK and Australia have issued explicit warnings against it. Reported problems include changes in moles, nausea and vomiting, and more serious events; there are no long-term human safety data.

So the honest picture for this area is: GHK-Cu and SNAP-8 sit in the cosmetic-ingredient and preclinical-research world with limited rigorous human trial data, while Melanotan 2 is an unapproved compound that regulators have actively warned about. None of these should be read as proven, medically supervised treatments.
