Sermorelin is a 29-amino-acid analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone. It was formerly FDA-approved as the finished drug Geref but that product was discontinued; sermorelin used today is compounded rather than an approved finished drug.
Sermorelin is human GHRH(1-29) amide; on-file CAS 86168-78-7 matches PubChem, and material is commonly supplied as the acetate salt.
Regulatory status: Sermorelin was FDA-approved (brand Geref, approved 1997) but the branded product was discontinued around 2008; the FDA later determined Geref was not withdrawn for safety or effectiveness, and as of 2026 sermorelin is available only through pharmacy compounding, not as an approved finished drug.
