This area covers peptides studied in tissue-repair, wound-healing, and recovery research — such as BPC-157 and TB-500. Most of the published work is preclinical (cell and animal studies). None are FDA-approved, and they are sold for laboratory research use only.

What the research actually says

Evidence so far: Largely preclinical — the science is dominated by animal and cell studies, human clinical evidence is very limited to essentially absent, and none of these compounds is FDA-approved.

BPC-157, TB-500 (a synthetic version of a fragment of thymosin beta-4) and KPV (a small fragment of a melanocortin hormone) are studied in the laboratory for tissue repair, inflammation and wound-healing processes. The great majority of that research is preclinical — done in rodents, in cell cultures, or in test tubes. That kind of work can show biological activity and generate hypotheses, but it does not tell you what happens in people.

For BPC-157 in particular there is a large body of animal literature, much of it from a relatively concentrated set of research groups, describing effects on tendon, muscle, gut and other tissues in rats. What is missing is the next step: well-designed, published, randomized human clinical trials showing that these effects hold up in people, at what exposure, and with what safety profile.

None of these three is approved as a drug by the FDA, and they are not permitted as dietary-supplement ingredients in the US. Their efficacy, correct handling, and long-term safety in humans are simply unproven. Honest bottom line: this is an area of active laboratory interest, not established human medicine.
